How Fleet Branding Works for Lease Vehicles and Large Fleet Rollouts
When a business takes on a new fleet of lease vehicles, branding is often the last thing planned and the first thing that causes delays. Vehicles arrive from the leasing company, sit waiting for graphics, and every idle day costs money.
Brandfixx works with both sides of the arrangement: the leasing company supplying the vehicles, and the business operating the fleet. Here's how lease fleet branding works, and why it suits modular branding so well.
Why lease vehicles need a different approach
A leased van or HGV doesn't belong to the business driving it. At the end of the contract, it goes back to the leasing company and is remarketed to its next user. That creates three requirements that owned vehicles don't have:
- The branding must come off cleanly. Residue, paint damage or lifted lacquer can lead to end-of-lease charges.
- The branding must last the contract. Typical lease terms run three to five years, and graphics need to look right for all of it.
- The rollout must keep pace with vehicle supply. New vehicles often arrive in batches, and the operator wants them working straight away.
Traditional wraps can meet the first two, but at a cost: full wraps take longer to fit, cost more to repair, and need careful removal at end of term. Modular branding was designed around exactly these pressures.
Who we work with on a lease fleet
The leasing company. Many leasing and contract hire providers want to offer branding as part of their service. We coordinate with them on vehicle specifications, delivery schedules and handover, so branding is fitted between delivery and deployment without adding days to the timeline.
The fleet operator. The business running the vehicles owns the brand. We work with their marketing and fleet teams on livery design, approvals, and where and when vehicles are fitted.
Both, together. On the largest projects, all three parties work to one schedule. Our project with Spartan Motor Factors, whose 110 Citroën Berlingo vans were supplied through Vanaways, shows how that works in practice.
How a lease fleet rollout works
- Vehicle scan and templates. We use 3D scanning to capture each vehicle's exact dimensions, and we hold templates for a wide range of makes and models.
- Livery design as a system. The design is built into defined zones, so it scales consistently across every vehicle type in the fleet.
- Production in advance. Kits are produced before vehicles arrive, so nothing waits on print.
- Fitting aligned to delivery. Vehicles are branded in batches as they're delivered, at our facility or at your premises anywhere in the UK.
- Quality checks and handover. Every vehicle is checked against the approved design before it goes into service.
- Aftercare for the life of the lease. Every panel is part-numbered and can be reordered through your online portal.
From first enquiry to fitting typically takes two to four weeks, and installation takes between two and six hours per vehicle depending on size.
Case study: 110 vans for Spartan Motor Factors
Spartan Motor Factors needed 110 vans branded and on the road within a tight window. Working in sync with Vanaways' vehicle deliveries, we scheduled fitting in batches and produced graphics in advance.
Each van, including roof coverage, was fully branded in five hours by a single installer. Across the fleet, that saved 1,210 hours compared with traditional wrapping, the equivalent of 135 working days.
Partway through the rollout, Spartan refined its branding. Because the fleet used modular kits, only the affected sections were reproduced and replaced, with no full rewraps and no colour-matching issues.

What happens at the end of the lease
This is where modular branding really earns its place on a lease fleet. Brandfixx kits are designed to remove without leaving glue or residue, and our installation process avoids using knives on the vehicle, minimising the risk of paint damage.
With care, kits are designed to last up to seven years, well beyond most lease terms. If a vehicle is replaced mid-contract, the branding system is simply applied to the new vehicle.

FAQs: Fleet branding for lease vehicles
Can you brand a leased van or HGV?
Yes. Most leasing companies allow branding, as long as it's removed in line with their guidance at the end of the contract. Always check your agreement before branding.
Do you work directly with leasing companies?
Yes. We work with leasing and contract hire providers as well as fleet operators, and we can coordinate branding around vehicle delivery schedules.
Will the branding damage the paintwork?
Brandfixx kits are designed to remove with no glue or residue left behind, and we avoid using knives on the vehicle during installation.
How quickly can a large lease fleet be branded?
Installation takes two to six hours per vehicle. For large rollouts, we schedule fitting in batches alongside vehicle deliveries.
What if a vehicle is swapped mid-lease?
The modular system is repeatable, so a replacement vehicle can be branded to match the rest of the fleet.
